Olive Oil

Marseille Soap - Savon de Marseille

    • originally from Olive Oil - now some other oils allowed

    • limited to soaps made in and around Marseiile, South of France

    • Mixes sea water from Marseille, olive oil, and alkaline chemicals: soda ash, lye

    • Modern Marseille Soap has two varieties: olive oil based and palm oil based (or palm and copra oil)

    • Popular in Italy known as Sapone di Marsiglia.

Castile Soap - Jabon de Castilla

    • Made in Castile, Spain

  • it was known as sapo hispaniensis or sapo castilliensis.

Aleppo Soap

    • Made in Aleppo, Syria

    • Made from Olive Oil, oil of Bay Laurel berries and soda ash

Nabulsi Soap

    • Made in Nablus, West Bank

    • Made from Virgin Olive Oil, water and sodium compound (soda ash)

    • Has a unique smell - a sign of purity and quality.

    • An important part of Palestinian and Nabulsi cultural heritage
